Our last ICT with Mandy

Today is our last session with Mandy :( We picked a  topic and played around with different websites to create visual things to possibly use in our assignment. I picked a duck because ducks are one of my favourite animals and are sooo cute! I made pictures of a duck from different words and it looks pretty nifty. I'm not doing my assignment on ducks, but at least now I know how to use these different things for future reference.

Placement

Just before we broke up for Christmas, we went on placement for a week at a place of our choice. I chose the primary school I went to when I was younger and really enjoyed it. Though most of the time was spent practising the Christmas concert and I didn't see much of the children's work I did gain a better understanding of how the foundation phase has been implemented into schools. I was in a year 1 class and they had 3 or 4 computers that they could use freely if they wanted to. It was good that they could develop their computer skills so early on and they really enjoyed the computers as they regularly bickered about whose turn it was to use them.

Research Week

So we had a week off last week because it was research week and all our lectures were cancelled. We had work to do over the week though so it wasn't a nice break. For Sian we had to do a mini assignment to practise referencing and writing at a higher level. I found that quite hard because it was the first time that I had tried out my referencing skills and realised that I didn't have any. For Mandy we had to work in a group and create a wiki page about education in the past/present/future. My group was Sara, Amy and Stacey. I found it easier to work in a group because there are more ideas when there are more of you.
